Records and Copy Requests

Records
The Probate Court is open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m for viewing of records.

The public is able to come in any time during office hours and view probate court files that are of public record. Copies can be made for $0.50 per page, or if it is a older document archived using our Papervision system, then copies will be $1.00 per page. 

Generally, we will NOT accept phone, mailed, or emailed requests to search records. We do not have the staff necessary to search the records. If you need a search done, you may come in person and search the records yourself or hire an abstractor or attorney to search the records for you.

Our office is located in the Union County Court House, 210 W. Main Street, Union, SC 29379:
When entering through the N. Herndon Street Entrance, we are the first office on the left.

Copy Requests
If you need a copy of a specific document, please send us a copy request by mail and include:
  • Case name or name of the Decedent
  • Specific Documents that you would like copies of (Example: Will, Final Accounting, etc.)
  • Mailing Address where you would like the copies sent
  • Phone Number Contact
Once we receive your request, we will contact you with the amount of money you owe for the copies. There will be a $5.00 processing fee, in addition to the $0.50 per pages for regular copies and $1.00 for Papervision copies. Once we have received payment, we will mail you copies.  





WE DO NOT ISSUE DEATH CERTIFICATES OR COPIES OF DEATH CERTIFICATES, PLEASE CONTACT SC DHEC DEPARTMENT OF VITAL RECORDS FOR REQUESTS CONCERNING ISSUING COPIES OF DEATH CERTIFICATES.
